While the holiday season is a time of joy and celebration, for many seniors it can also stir up feelings of isolation and loneliness. The nature in which we connect with friends and family changes such as health and mobility are affected because of the aging process. It may become more difficult to be involved in the same kinds of festivities that once brought joy at this time of the year, however at Clover Living, we don’t believe that aging means an end to the good times.
Something that even the healthiest seniors face as they age is losses from friends and family. This decreased social circle is amplified and often brought to light during the holiday season. Accompanied with the loss is the loss of familiar traditions that have often been cherished for many years. Moving into a new living space in a different location can also enhance the feeling that things are no longer the way they used to be, and often it can feel like there is nothing to look forward to.
We believe that there is plenty of happiness to still be discovered in your later years, and that even though things may be different, it doesn’t have to be negative. It’s our mission at Clover Living to make your living space feel like a home, and along with your fellow neighbours to create a community. All year round (and especially during the holiday season), we host a variety of social events to celebrate both Eastern and Western traditions, complete with delicious food and entertaining activities. We also encourage our residents to invite their family over for a fantastic night of making brand new memories to cherish for years to come.
While it’s very common to have feelings of loneliness in your later years, it doesn’t have to be that way. If you’re thinking about making Clover Living your home, a new living space can provide all new opportunities for spending time with others, while not being held down by the chores of daily living. We take inclusiveness and the development of a community atmosphere seriously, because we value our residents’ mental health and wellbeing.
