Lunar New Year With Clover Living

January 29th marked the start of the Year of the Snake, bringing wisdom, transformation, calmness and creativity. Sometimes called the Spring Festival, the Lunar New Year is a time to celebrate new beginnings and the arrival of spring. Hopefully you were able to stop by the Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre and enjoy some of the amazing performances such as traditional lion and dragon dances, martial arts performances, music, dancing and more!

We also encourage our residents to invite family members over for a visit and some quality time to start off a new lunar year. Sometimes annual celebrations can cause seniors to inadvertently experience feelings of loneliness, which is why we always look to encourage connectivity during these times both within our community at Clover Living and with their respective families.

A popular tradition during the Lunar New Year is to do some cleaning, especially in the home. It is commonly seen as a way to usher in the new year by getting rid of any bad luck and getting your living space ready to receive good luck, and new experiences in the new year. If you’re looking to freshen up your living space, it’s best to take it one piece at a time and ask for help from a friend or a relative to not overwhelm yourself.

The Lunar New Year also offers a chance to look forward with optimism and excitement. It’s a great opportunity to let go of any lingering negativity from the previous year and make room for new things to come your way. At Clover Living, we encourage our residents to talk to each other and share their excitement for the new year. This is a great way to brighten up everyone’s spirits as well as foster a positive environment for the entire community.

We hope you had a chance to enjoy all of the Lunar New Year festivities this year, and wish you good fortune in the Year of the Snake!
